Biography
Dr. Evangeline Cheng is an assistant professor of Instruction in Music Education and Music Therapy Graguate Programme & Director of the Music Therapy Certificate Program in the Music Department at National Pingtung University. She is currently teaching Music Bibliography, Improvisation Skills for Music Therapy, Introduction to Music Therapy, Teaching Materials and Methods of Arts in the Primary School, Orff、Gordon Music Methods, and Thesis. Evangeline has 20 years of experience teaching music therapy and music education classes. She is a Nordoff-Robbins and HCPC-certified music therapist and has worked as a music therapist for 16 years. Evangeline earned her Master of Music Therapy at the Nordoff-Robbins, Master of Arts in Music Education, and Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education at the Institute of Education, University College London. Her research interests include music education in primary school, community music therapy, music and health, music literacy assessment, music therapy education, special music education, creative music therapy, and instrumental teaching. Her relevant research was published in the British Journal of Music Education (A&HCI), the European Journal of Special Needs Education (SSCI), and the Australian Journal of Music Education. She has been a principal and co-principal investigator for many projects of different local and partner universities’ national grants. She has won an Outstanding Mentor in 2023.
